Pre-Conference Field Excursion
(Community for Sustainable Development)

Mountain Communities are the major actors in Sustainable Mountain Development. The communities are not only the main users and consumers of the resources but are the primary stakeholders who have the largest contribution to conservation. The role played by these communities is usually undermined. Therefore, this Pre-Conference trip is designed to observe, learn about the invaluable contributions of the communities, and interact with the mountain communities of Nepal.

Major Highlights of the Pre-Conference Trip
On the trip, one can expect to witness, interact, and learn about Communities and their practices in rural Nepal. The trip’s major highlights will be community-led homestays, community-based natural resource management practices, and conservation practices, including tourism industries managed by communities.

Accessibility: Travelling by Bus, off-road from Nayapul to Ghandruk and a short hike

Post-Conference Trip (Trip to Majestic Mustang)

Mustang, a Himalayan district in western Nepal, is the district that had its own sustainable development plan (2008- 2013 AD) and is often regarded as a pioneer in the field of Sustainable Development. Since the post conference trip aims at highlighting the practical implications of sustainable development practices, the trip is planned to explore the Mustang district.  Major Highlights of the Post-Conference Trip
The major highlights of the post-conference trip are observing scenic landscapes and witnessing the magic of mountains. The trip is anticipated to offer lifetime experiences of learning about conservation practices of Annapurna Conservation Area. 

Accessibility: Offroad traveling.
